My wife recently got her new i4 eDrive40, and she’s been noticing a weird boomy sound coming from the front after driving it for a bit. It’s kind of bassy, like her car's trying to vibe or something. We took it to the dealer, but they shrugged it off as “normal.”

Now we’re starting to wonder if it’s got something to do with the battery cooling system. Anyone else run into this, or have any ideas on what might be going on?

I doubt it’s related to the battery cooling. My i4 has a similar setup, and I’ve never heard that boomy sound. Do you notice the noise when preconditioning the car, or is it only after driving for a while? It could help narrow things down.

Nah, it’s not until we’ve been driving for a bit. At first, it’s super quiet, but once we hit the road for a while, the sound starts to ramp up. It’s like the noise cranks up as the car warms up, totally hard to miss!

This might sound odd, but have you checked if the car’s software is up to date? BMW sometimes releases patches that fine-tune things like motor or cooling system sounds. I’ve heard of a few i4 owners mentioning reduced cabin noise after updates. If the dealer isn’t taking it seriously, maybe ask them to log the issue with BMW directly, it’s possible others are reporting the same thing.
