What happens when your BMW's 12V Battery dies on the road?

Hi all, so when my 12V battery died on the road, I had no choice but to get towed to a BMW dealer since the car was completely unresponsive without it. I wondered if using a lithium-ion jump starter would have caused any damage to the car’s electronics. I wasn’t sure, and I couldn’t find anyone who knew for certain if it was safe to use.
